Ok guys and gals, here is the thread for any discussion about the swap meet. So ask questions, make suggestions or offer comments, and the committee will take it under consideration. We need volunteers to man the event so step up even if you can only participate one day. Matt Cummings is the committee chairman so he will be in charge. This is a good endevor for our club and I'm sure everyone will have fun and might be able to get rid of some of that clutter in the garage too.
One thing I don't know if Matt mentioned at our meeting last night was we also wanted to do a vintage bike show and a trophy for the winner in each of 4 catagories... Vintage, Evo twin shock, Evo mono-shock, and Open class.
So for the next month, lets talk it up and at our next meeting in November we'll solidify our dicisions.

Well I can see this is a hot button discussion, lol. OK let me get this thing kicked off. One day or two day. I do lots of swap meets for cars. Webster is the first Sunday and Punta Gorda is the last Sunday, both well established with lots of vendors and tons of spectators. They still only do one day even with their clout. If the club wants two days and we have the man(and wo-man) power I'll be completely supportive. But my official vote is for Sunday.

Yeah, lots of traffic on this subject. I guess one day will be fine. Are you sure that Sunday would be the better day? Considering travel for vendors and set-up and break-down, it would make for a long day.

They do it at Webster and Punta gorta. I think they can manage it here. Think if we wrap it up at 5 or 6 that's plenty of time to make it home. Also gives us all day Saturday to have everything dialed in.
I believe we need to send an club wide email with this forums link. This is a big deal and people may need to be reminded it's going on.

I guess this forum thing isn't working out too well. I think we have just about four volunteers and they all met to start this going. So sad

Well, I earned that handle when I actualy was young enough to be considered "a kid". I'm in as a volunteer, as well as a "exhibitor". The thought of thinning out my garage is making me wife smile. I am of the opinion that we really need to advertize in advance, all over the state. Make this an event for spectators, as well as exhibitors and it may become a yearly event, just like Webster. The idea of a Vintage contest has me revved up. I think we need to make a cool poster, perhaps with lots of vintage, evo, twin shock bikes to display in the tri-county area, as well as on our website. A picture is worth 1,000 words. Craigslist is also good advertizing, and is where I learned about the original Swap Meet, and ended up becoming a SADRA member. Perhaps even the local TV can cover us. Dave D.

With the approval of club a check is on its way to me to officially place the day of our swap meet. With that we need to start advertising. Dave is right a kick ass poster will pull plenty of people off their couches and to our event. I am not an artist not good with computers much less have one so I will fall short in this area. Anybody up to the challenge? Also time to spam craigslist and start getting our fingers in any magazine that is cheap or FREE. Free is good. If its free I'll put my name in. The local news papers is a good idea too. Classifieds heck if we can get an article written that's great. Not sure how that works either. Lets get this snow ball rolling now so we don't have a 3 week to go panic.
My phone number is 9413025736 if you need me, call. Got a question, call. Need to meet up, call. Lonely and need somebody to talk to, get a cat.

Ok I will start working on posters. I will design a few ideas and then we can adjust them accordingly. I would like to have Swap Meet members have a small meeting before we have dinner the Saturday of the Christmas party. We should have more members there to help get the conversation going.

All,
I will be there at the Duffy's home at 5:00 PM for the Swap Meet meeting, and to attend the Supercross Party at 7:30 PM. I will bring two (2) frozen crunchy peanut butter ice cream pies for dessert. Unfortunately, I can't attend the Gun Range event. Dave Dixon
